Head Of The House
The head of the house is called The Johannsen, as s/he is the one who holds the greatest power in the house. In order to become The Johannsen, a swan knight has to knock the current head of house out of the picture, generally by a duel to the death or murder. This means that the older the Johannsen gets, the more paranoid s/he becomes in time. Considered the last word on anything, all the swans are his children and he watches over them via a magical bracelet they all wear, being called by the title "Father".Father controls his children via a bracelet, as stated above, which allows him to 'listen in' on things. The bracelet can give shocks or pain depending on the level of warning Father wants to give. He can also call the child home via the bracelet. Father also controls them through use of their 'true' name. This can force them from swan form to human form, compel a child to obey, and can allow certain spells to force a child to be loyal and forget their past and train. Force is the operative word. It doesn't work on all, depending on the will of the person.
The Staff of Law is Father's main tool of keeping his pacts and it is
his battle weapon. It can break any sword with the merest touch, send
mortals to Valhalla and make people toe the line of their agreements.
Covered in runes, it is the most powerful weapon in the House.
