Valkyrie,
or wind riders, are a very old magical warrior sect with a set of rules
and codes of conduct that make them anachronistic. This is an ancient Order
that was old by the time the term 'knight' had come into use, but once the
nickname 'Swan Knight' was applied it stuck. They are also known as Shield
Warriors for their burnished and bright metal shields. Their house, House
Johannsen, is one of the most powerful magical houses in the world. Clannish,
the House keeps to itself. Self-sufficient and steeped in lore and rigid
tradition, the modern world is a bit of a shock to the trainee the first
time they are sent out for duty.
The palace is large, made of marble and ice, and is ornate, but warm for all of that. The types of spells known to House Johannsen are so old they are all but unknown to the rest of the world and few records outside of the house library exist. |
