The Code of the Order

A Valkyrie strives to be:

Anonymous. A member of the Order never gives their name, rather letting the person they are speaking with provide them with a name. They never say where they come from and they never reveal a thing about the Order. Revealing their true name or a mortal speaking it aloud is punished by final death for both parties.

Capable. A member of the Order executes their duty completely and thoroughly to the exclusion of anything else. They never refuse an assignment from the Cauldron of Grief. They do not fail. If a member of the Order is led astray from their purpose the person who led them will be punished, as the member of the Order is highly trained and far too valuable to lose. If the member of the Order stays away of their own accord, punishment will be meted out to them as well. Punishment is normally losing one's life, being transformed into a swan for a good many years, possibly decades and replacing the lost member of the Order, if that is the case.

Loyal. A member of the Order is loyal to the Johannsen and never ignores a call back home to House Johannsen, needing to answer the call within forty-eight hours. They may never marry or have children unless permission is expressly given by the Johannsen. The Order is their family and they may not seek their birth family out. Nor are they allowed to break the bonds of service to the Lady.
